VUCA / BANI

Definition

VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) and the newer BANI model (Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear, Incomprehensible) describe the conditions under which executives make decisions in 2026: volatile, brittle, non-linear and hard to grasp – reinforced by AI, geopolitical shifts and climate transformation. MBA programs address VUCA/BANI with courses on resilience, crisis management, scenario planning and ethical decision-making.

Example: "The lecturer described the market as BANI rather than classically VUCA."
