MBA & Master Glossary
Semester
Definition
A semester is a study period of approximately 6 months. The academic year is divided into two semesters: winter semester (October-March) and summer semester (April-September). A Bachelor's program usually comprises 6 semesters, a Master's 2-4 semesters. The lecture-free time between semesters is used for exams and internships.
Example: "The programme takes three semesters including the Master's thesis."
