Peer Assessment
Definition
Peer assessment is the evaluation of a business school by representatives of other institutions – usually deans or programme directors who rate the reputation of competing schools in surveys. In several rankings this reputational component accounts for a substantial share of the total score. Critics point out that peer assessment is heavily shaped by historical name recognition, favouring established brands while systematically undervaluing young or regionally strong programmes.
Example: "In peer assessment, deans of other schools rate a programme's reputation."
