Studying for an MBA in Germany – Advantages and Career Opportunities
Many graduates with a traditional university degree possess good specialist knowledge and have already been working for several years. They feel called to higher things and aspire to a leadership position. An MBA (Master of Business Administration) program provides exactly the content needed by top managers with top salaries.
What are the prerequisites for an MBA in Germany?
The MBA in Germany requires a whole range of basic knowledge, which is why the admission requirements are considered demanding. A completed university or university of applied sciences degree is mandatory at most institutions. In addition, at least one, preferably two, years of professional experience are expected.
Another prerequisite is advanced English language skills based on the internationally recognized TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language) and TOEIC (Test Of English for International Communication) certificates.
Furthermore, a basic understanding of economics is required. This is either demonstrated in a personal interview or proven with a GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test).
How is the MBA in Germany structured?
Depending on the study model, the MBA comprises between 2 and 4 semesters. In the first half of the program, the basics of economics (VWL) and business administration (BWL) are on the curriculum. Later, knowledge of employee leadership is taught. In addition, elective courses in areas such as marketing, financial, and human resource management can be taken.
