Founded in 1343 by Pope Clement VI., Università di Pisa is the 10th oldest extant university in Italy and the 19th oldest in the world. It has a very strong international reputation, often being ranked between first and third places in Italy, in the top 30 in Europe and the top 300 in the world. In the Academic Ranking of World Universities of 2013, it has reached the first place together with La Sapienza University of Rome among all Italian universities.
