Manipulative images and videos: From August, deepfakes must be labeled in the EU

The EU will introduce a labeling requirement for AI-generated or altered content, so-called deepfakes, starting in August 2026. The aim is to create transparency and counteract the manipulation of public opinion, as deceptively real fakes endanger information integrity.
